Lacewood exhibits a striking pattern that resembles lace when it is quartersawn (cut so that the face of a board is perpendicular to the rings.) In order to showcase this distinctive feature, the Lace table top floats above a simple curved base in contrasting matte black beech and anodized aluminum. The sweeping, asymmetrical aluminum inlay imparts motion to the design while the large scale of the inlay contrasts with the fine figuring of the lacewood. A contemporary roundover profile on the bottom of the table top mirrors the curves in the base.
